Another great indoor tennis season is coming to an end, just in time for warm weather and sunshine. We certainly deserve it.
But we had plenty of fun indoors this year. 2013-14 at The Julian Krinsky School of Tennis saw record numbers of younger players taking up the lifetime sport. Our 8 & Under Tennis classes expanded this season into more days and time slots and spawned a new junior inter-club division team. We also held numerous inaugural USTA 10 & Under tournaments at both Narberth Racquet Club and Gulph Mills Tennis Club.
Not to be overshadowed, our 12 & Under, 14 & Under and 18 & Under junior teams showed great competitiveness and team spirit each weekend, and our 14 & Under Advanced team came out winners. Participation in the DelTri Women’s Interclub League remains strong as Gulph Mills fielded 8 teams of 12 players, at all different skill levels, including our newly crowned Division 5 champions. And women’s tennis continues to expand, as the USTA develops its indoor interclub league schedule to include Tuesday afternoons. In addition, more and more of our long time club members are playing well into their 80’s, perhaps with an artificial joint or two, but hardly slowing down.
And that’s just the tip of the iceberg. Here in pictures is a brief recap of all that transpired during this season of record low temperatures outside and new tennis highs inside.
